Ladies and gentlemen,
Today is a memorable moment to address the 10th edition of advancing efforts and commitment towards phasing out lead paint since 2013. As a company, we have enormously invested and continued to contribute to the development of paint products' standards as well as striving to ensure that the toxic substances are within the expected limits. This way, we do not harm the environment or human health. In this regard, I wish to thank Dr. Faridah Were, the lead paint alliance partners, and the Department of Chemistry under the leadership of UNEP and WHO. For the last 10 years, we have made a substantial contribution not only in Kenya but also across the East African community. I also thank the University of Nairobi for working as a team and collaborating with the stakeholders and partners.

Basco Products (K) Ltd.is a leading paint manufacturer with over 45 years of experience in the manufacture of paint and other related products.

We put emphasis on our Vision as we strive for excellence in our products and services in order to become the most admired and preferred paint company in Africa. We further provide expert and technical solutions and inspiration through innovative, value-added products and services while enhancing stakeholder value.

Ladies and gentlemen
We are committed to providing World class paints to our customers. Our endeavour is to provide products that are not just the best in performance, but also safe, and minimize the impact on our environment. In continuation of the same objective, Basco Paints converted the entire range of Duracoat & Duracoat Royale Water-Based decorative products to Low –VOC in 2011 and we will continue to ensure that we provide paints that are environment friendly for the good of our customers. I’m glad to mention that all our products are green certified. A few months back, we have achieved yet another milestone by launching our latest innovation which is water-based enamel paint known as “Duracoat Ultima Aqua Gloss Enamel.” This is a premium quality non-yellowing high gloss finish suitable for use on interior and exterior metal, wood and plastered surfaces, both new and previously painted, ideal for furniture, doors, skirtings and wall surfaces in kitchen and bathrooms.

Key highlights of the products: -

  • First in the region to launch a water-based enamel
  • This is a water-based product (100% Acrylic)
  • Environmentally friendly
  • It is odourless
  • Non yellowing
  • With outstanding stain resistance

Earlier this year we launched Duracoat AquaTech a new generation of water proofing range of products in the market to address frequent roof leakages that faces the country’s growing property sector.

We can all agree that the rising dampness issue is a major challenge across Kenya. To mitigate this, Duracoat launched “Duracoat Aquafin F”, a waterproofing system for permanently solving the increasingly rising dampness in the superstructure.

We are also happy to state that we have been doing multiple green building projects. One of the major projects is the ongoing one with the UN. Additionally, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility and a major paint manufacturer in the region, we have been looking into all these activities and I thank the Department of Chemistry and the University of Nairobi fraternity for organising this event. Kenya has also played a critical role through KEBs in guiding the region on the establishment of paint products standards. The critical aspect is enforcement of these standards that provide a better level ground to the industry to have fair competition.

I could go on and on but in the interest of time let me conclude my speech by saying that at Basco Products Ltd., we offer not only quality but also lead-free products.

We’re truly grateful to be associated with the 10th-anniversary event.

Say no to lead poisoning.

Thank you and God bless!
