Basco Paints launches a new generation of waterproofing range of products in the market to address frequent roof leakages that face the country’s growing property sector. The new product to trade as Duracoat “AquaTech” targets homeowners, architects, contractors, and engineers.

Basco Paints Managing Director, Kamlesh Shah said the waterproofing range is a highly skill-based product that requires professionalism, especially in its application. “Under our Duracoat brand we will be providing the latest waterproofing range of products such as Liquid Admixer, Powder Admixer, and SBR Latex to offer variety for customers”, Shah explained.

The paint boss said the new product will provide homeowners with waterproofing solutions through a host of applications and expert solutions. Shah said trainings on technical knowledge about the new product will be offered to realise its potential.
“Many Kenyan consumers are consistently looking out for unique paint solutions for their homes or projects that are more affordable and durable”, he added.

According to data from the 2021 Economic Survey covering the 2020 calendar year, Kenya’s construction industry registered a double-digit growth rate of over 12%as the sector remained largely interrupted despite the prevailing coronavirus pandemic. This provides a rich opportunity for paint companies to innovate products that add more value for new homeowners and tap into this growing market.

Shah said the waterproofing segment has, over the years, been dominated by foreign companies arguing that the new product is set to challenge the dominance by offering variety for customers. The new product can be applied on concrete, roof slabs, and water tanks to help in reducing water permeability and protection against erosion from water ingress.
